Work Experience & Internships

Real-world experience gives our students an extra boost. It’s not just for their resumé. Or for their college applications. The confidence, interest and additional skills they gain builds an important foundation for their futures. And it all happens here. At TKS.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

TKS Internship Program

Our High School students on the program gain invaluable real-life work experience from across many KAUST Departments, which stays with them and helps to prepare them in their chosen fields and careers.

We are proud to celebrate their achievements and recognize the vast talent pool of resources we have and the unique learning opportunities we can offer with KAUST.

Wise Internship Program

WISE 2022 Summer Program is a collaboration of Community Life, TKS, and the Office of the Provost. This four-week summer internship program is open to children of KAUST residents. This includes TKS students in Grades 10-12, and children of KAUST residents who are studying at another High School or as an undergraduate at a University – aged 25 and under.

Science & Research Internships

Through our relationship with our friends at KAUST, our students get real-world input into their research projects and IB extended essays. The University always welcomes TKS students. It’s a great opportunity for them to spend time in the labs. And they benefit from the expert mentorship of university and post-doctoral students, research scientists and faculty.

Human cell tissue techniques, the Leidenfrost effect, the effects of hydrophobic sand on plant growth, and photosynthetic efficiency. They’re just some of the areas of research our students are investigating with KAUST.

I worked with the IT Security Department to raise awareness about possible cybersecurity risks. This took the form of presentations, advertisements, and videos. It helped supplement my learning because I am interested in the world of computers. It also enriched my work experience which is particularly important when applying to universities. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet people whom I otherwise might have not met.

University Admissions Report

Last year was another huge success for our graduating year. Our Class of 2022 students were accepted into 23 of the world’s 100 top-ranked universities and have gone on to attend university in 13 different countries. We’re so proud of the achievements of all our graduates and wish them the best for the exciting next stage in their lives.

You can read more about what our graduates did next in our annual University Admissions Report.

While our students at The KAUST School receive acceptances to some of the best universities in the world, the philosophical practice of the college counseling office is to help students identify and encourage best fit matches, regardless of university rankings.
