Grade 6 Adventure: Exploring AlUla's Wonders

February 28, 2024

The Grade 6 trip to AlUla was nothing short of spectacular, filled with awe-inspiring moments and unforgettable experiences. For many of us, it marked our first venture away from home, making the journey a journey of firsts. Despite the lengthy 8-hour bus ride, the time spent together fostered new friendships and deeper connections, turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories.

Our exploration of Hegra, home to the Nabataean Civilization Tombs, provided insights into ancient cultures, rituals, and values. A magical night under the desert sky included stargazing near our campsite, where the moonlight became an unexpected guide in the vast expanse. Through a high-tech telescope, we marveled at Jupiter and studied the moon's craters, guided by the North Star and Orion Belt.

A nature hike revealed unexpected lush greenery amidst the desert's rocks and boulders. The panoramic view of AlUla and a visit to the Old Town Center added cultural richness, complete with shopping, henna, and delectable Saudi desserts made with dates.

In these two nights and three days, Grade 6 embarked on an adventure that transcended expectations, creating lasting memories and a newfound appreciation for the wonders of AlUla.

Next academic year we will send out information regarding trips that will take place in Grades 6, 7 and 8. We hope to expand our choices of trips based on interest from our students and families. These trips are linked to our curriculum in Middle School and help bring the learning alive. Students develop deeper connections with peers, lasting life skills, increased independence and personal responsibility. School excursions can be an important part of the social development of your adolescent.
